Hypatia
taught Philosophy, Maths and Astronomy in the most
important school in Greece, the Library of Alexandria.
Libraries were places for books but they were also
schools.
Hypatia was the director of this Library of Alexandria.
She also invented an astrolabe to measure the location
of the stars, the planets and the sun and to measure
time, too.
In the name of God, the Christians (some fanatic followers
of Saint Cyril) started persecuting intellectuals.
They set fire to the Library of Alexandria and assassinated
Hypatia.
(Nowadays Alexandria is in Egypt)
